Work begins on 100 Avebury
An official sod cutting ceremony attended by the Mayor of Milton Keynes and other special guests took place this week and despite the extremely cold weather the mood was light-hearted and the reveal of our new buildings website took place.
100 Avebury Boulevard is to become our companys largest and best yet contemporary office and retail development to date and promises to exceed the standards expected in Central Milton Keynes. ‘100 Avebury’ will be the most ideally located new office and retail space for commuters in Milton Keynes as it is within just 3 minutes walking distance to the train station.
The site was acquired by AW James from Abbeygate Hellical in July 2015 and had various planning permissions for Leisure, Retail and Hotel use. Whilst all of these options were considered we approached the local planning authority with a completely new design and the response was very encouraging. Planning permission arrived in October 2016 and the next 15 months have been spent in finding the best construction partner and working on further improvement of the design of the building. Ground Preparation works began on 8th Jan and the building is due to complete by late summer 2019.
Our hope is that ‘100 Avebury’ will set a very high benchmark on new office and retail design for CMK and become a very attractive landmark development that is instantly recognisable from the West Coast Mainline and A5. We look to attract some of the best forward thinking companies in the region who place great importance on staff welfare. Alongside the ground floor retail, this building offers a series of external spaces, both shared and private, for which both staff and visitors can enjoy a landscaped and tranquil environment whilst remaining close to their workspace.
Milton Keynes has just celebrated ’50 years’ last year and so many of the commercial buildings here are due to be demolished and rebuilt or refurbished to a high standard. AW James is ideally suited to provide just this service.
