Bedford-based Architects, Engineers and Development Consultants Woods Hardwick will be overseeing the construction of the final two office buildings they designed as part of the Routeco Business Park in Milton Keynes. This project will conclude the office park development from an earlier planning approval obtained by Woods Hardwick for the AW James Ltd development, with work starting on site in May 2014.
The two office buildings have been designed to reflect the style of the previously completed phases and seek to complete the maximisation of the site development. Both buildings are being constructed to a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard by the Milton Keynes-based Design and Build contractor Parkway Construction.
The Heron House office (6006sq ft) has been designed as a feature landmark building, benefiting from dramatic views of the Teardrop Lakes. Woods Hardwick has drawn inspiration from these to provide an interesting plan form incorporating a long curved full height glass wall to reflect the shape of the lakes.
The larger of the two buildings is a 12,604 sq ft office which is built facing into the main car park area of the development off Davy Avenue. It incorporates a feature mono pitched roof and glazing details to reflect the high quality of the earlier phases.
“The new buildings are of an excellent design quality and take into consideration their surroundings, creating a sustainable working environment.” – Karl Myhill, consultant with Woods Hardwick commented that he was also;
“delighted to see the final part of the scheme coming to fruition and to be working again with both AW James Ltd and Parkway Construction”.
